"Sirens Of Sarurn" comes from Life on Sarurn and takes its name from the world the show is set on. The recording has no words in it. A wordless vocal line carries the whole thing, and the story it implies, celestial sirens calling travelers off course, is delivered without a single statement.

It was broadcast in 1978 as a standalone transmission, ahead of Sirens of the Milky Way, an album that was announced and never released.

A siren song without lyrics is closer to a definition than an experiment. Take the words out and what remains is the part that was always doing the work: a sound that pulls without arguing, and that can never be held to anything it said.

It sits at the end of The Positronic Mechanicals, the era when machines were becoming articulate and the catalog around it was busy putting language to things that had not had it before. A recording that declines language entirely reads differently in that company. Not an absence, a choice.
